Frequently Asked Questions

Products & Technology

Are these devices safe for home use?

Yes — with important caveats that vary by product. Every device in our catalog is designed for home or professional use. That said, several products have specific contraindications: PEMF should not be used with pacemakers or implanted electronic devices; whole-body cryotherapy requires strict safety protocols and should never be done alone; hyperbaric chambers should not be used with active ear or sinus infections, lung disease, or during pregnancy. Each product page lists safety considerations in full. If you have any underlying medical conditions, consult your doctor before use.

Do I need professional installation?

For most products, no. Our infrared sauna runs on a standard 120V outlet with no electrician required. The cold plunge, red light panel, and PEMF mat all plug in directly. The hyperbaric chamber requires a flat, stable space and a brief setup process. The cryotherapy chamber is the only product that typically benefits from professional installation due to its size and technical requirements — we can advise on this during your purchase.

What's the difference between infrared and traditional sauna?

Traditional saunas heat the surrounding air to 180–200°F; you sit in hot air. Infrared saunas use radiant heat elements that warm your body directly, so the cabin temperature stays at 120–150°F — much more tolerable — while you still sweat deeply. The strongest long-term sauna research (on cardiovascular outcomes) comes from Finnish traditional sauna studies. Infrared-specific evidence is growing but newer. For home use, infrared has a big practical advantage: standard 120V installation, 15-minute heat-up, and temperatures that make daily use genuinely comfortable.

What is PEMF and does it work?

PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy uses low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to interact with cells. It has real clinical history — FDA-cleared for non-union bone fractures since 1979, with evidence for post-operative pain and knee osteoarthritis. Consumer mats operate at lower intensities than clinical devices, with less direct research. Most users report relaxation and improved sleep quality. We won't overstate it: it's a passive recovery and relaxation tool with a plausible mechanism, not a cure-all. Do not use if you have a pacemaker or implanted electronic device.

What is a hyperbaric chamber, and is it the same as clinical HBOT?

No — they're different. Clinical hard-shell hyperbaric oxygen therapy (at 2.0+ ATA with 100% oxygen) is an FDA-cleared treatment for specific medical conditions including non-healing wounds and carbon monoxide poisoning, administered under medical supervision. Our home chamber operates at 1.5 ATA and is a wellness and recovery device, not a medical treatment. The research on mild home chambers is more limited than clinical HBOT. We'll be honest: it offers a calming, pressurized rest environment that many serious biohackers include in their stack — not a disease treatment.

What does the research actually say about cold plunging?

The largest meta-analysis to date (2025, 11 randomized trials, 3,000+ participants) found evidence for reduced perceived stress, improved sleep quality, and better quality of life with regular cold-water immersion. Reduced delayed onset muscle soreness is also well-supported. Dramatic claims about immune boosting and calorie burning are less supported. Cold immersion triggers a brief pro-inflammatory response immediately after — the anti-inflammatory effects come in the recovery cycle. It's a strong, well-tolerated recovery tool — not a miracle.

Ordering & Financing

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through Affirm and Shop Pay Installments on every product. Monthly payment options appear at checkout — approval typically takes seconds. Estimated monthly payments are listed on each product page. Our products range from $54/month (Red Light Panel) to $833/month (Cryotherapy Chamber) depending on term length and approved rate.

Can I speak with someone before purchasing?

Yes — and for purchases at these price points, we encourage it. C.J. answers every email personally. Contact us here or reply to any email we've sent you. We'd rather answer your questions than have you buy something that isn't the right fit.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and financing through Affirm and Shop Pay Installments.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Smaller devices (red light panel, PEMF mat) typically ship within a few business days. Larger items (infrared sauna, cold plunge, hyperbaric chamber, cryotherapy chamber) ship by freight and delivery typically takes 1–3 weeks depending on your location. You'll receive tracking once your order ships, and the freight carrier will contact you to schedule large-item deliveries. All orders ship free.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently US only. Contact us for international inquiries and we'll let you know what's possible.

Returns & Warranty

What is your return policy?

Please review our Return & Refund Policy for full details. For high-ticket items, we recommend contacting us before purchasing if you have any questions about fit or suitability — returns on large freight items are complicated for everyone.

Are products covered by a warranty?

Yes. Every PerformEnhance product includes a manufacturer's warranty. Specific terms vary by product and are included in your order documentation. If something is wrong, contact us — we make it right.
